Should artificial intelligence technology be used to diagnose illnesses or should diagnosis always be based on a doctor's opinion?
Dear Researchers, Scientists, Friends,
AI is increasingly being used in medical diagnostics, including the recognition of diseases based on medical data. The question is whether AI should make diagnoses on its own or whether this should be left exclusively to doctors. Research shows that AI technology in diagnostics can improve the accuracy of diagnoses and detect diseases faster, reducing the risk of medical errors. On the other hand, AI's independent diagnosis can lead to wrong decisions, especially in unusual cases or those requiring medical context that algorithms may not be able to recognise. Therefore, perhaps the best solution is to use AI as a tool to support doctors who make final decisions based on the results of the analyses. Therefore, the question above touches on the delicate issue of trust in technology in an area where human life can be at stake. Although AI can offer impressive precision in data analysis, it cannot replace a comprehensive approach that takes into account the entire medical context and the individual needs of the patient. Decisions regarding health require not only data, but also an understanding of the human psyche and the specifics of a given case, which makes the role of a doctor crucial. In this case, AI can be a very effective support tool, but medical decisions should still be left in the hands of qualified specialists.
