I used acetic acid and water in hydroxylation reaction. After reaction how i can separate acetic acid and water from reaction medium. Simple distillation not working due to the eutectic mixture of acetic acid and water.
Acetic acid can be readily separated from water by using azeotropic distillation. Acetic acid is difficult to separate from water by conventional distillation or rectification because of the close proximity of their boiling points.
I fully agree with Nawal Azrou , you can try a LL-extraction as the first step. Please refer to the picture attached as example. As you can see from the second picture you will need to use an entrainer for the extractive distillation. The examples are based or the following work:
