I am looking for ideas for research on ADHD with a focus on population health (and possibly social work). This would be something that I could also then integrate into a doctoral thesis in the future.
As a person who suffers from ADHD and taking into consideration population health, there is a very distinct link between this disability and health behaviors. While most people who suffer from ADHD have some common linkages to health conditions such as a higher rate of allergies and there is a lot of evidence to support that, if your looking a population based health, I would look at the distinct patterns of behavior that exists in people who suffer from ADHD and what health behaviors, essentially symptoms of ADHD, contribute to an unhealthily life style.
I would rather propose to look at the relation of ADHD diagnosis and impaired self perception, impaired self valueing and impaired self management. You can notice in patients with optimized medication how profoundly they gain in
- perceiving every change in the bodies equlibrity and
- searching for adequately quick and sunstaining solutions.
- They remark illnesses earlier,
- they make appointments,
- they keep appointments and
- they maintain the tratment.
If they receive no optimized tretatment they surely do not. That has an impact on every illness but still more on chonic conditions.
Additionally the factor, that ADHD persons live in continous stress could be correlated with allergy, Heart-Deseases and other stress related somatic ilnesses.
