Men who harm their intimate partners often use implements and methods that are particular to their region, culture, or country. For example, in a farming area, men may be more apt to grab a machete or a shotgun--this is what they have on hand. Throwing acid at women seems to be most prevelant in South Asia and among South Asians in other countries. I am looking for research and anecdotal evidence about the kinds of weapons/methods used to threaten and harm women, internationally. What have you seen? What have you researched? Thanks.

Operational definitions for physical violence (other categories are sexual violence, physical violence during pregnancy, and several others)
Physical violence by an intimate partner:
• Was slapped or had something thrown at her that could hurt her
• Was pushed or shoved
• Was hit with fist or something else that could hurt
• Was kicked, dragged or beaten up
• Was choked or burnt on purpose
• Perpetrator threatened to use or actually used a gun, knife or other weapon against her
