I am also evaluating the anti-cancer and anti-angiogenic capabilities of the same plant (Barringtonia asiatica). Would love to learn more from researchers conducting similar researches.
Initial toxicity test can be done/employed using brine shrimp lethality assay especially if no know/no literature yet available on the toxicity of the material. But if toxicity is already known, you may proceed to doing cell-based assay.
I will be working on the same plant (B. asiatica). Some researchers have already conducted the brine shrimp lethality assay on it, however, me being an undergraduate student would be conducting the similar experiment on my fractions and hopefully would have some positive results. In addition, I will be conducting some cell-based assay such as the use of MTT and SRB. Any comments and suggestions on y procedure are highly appreciated.
