Were doing research on a material to test its performance and applicability for EMI applications, and we are new to this topic. We have determined the S value for our material from a vector network analyzer machine:
1. How can we calculate Permittivity and permeability from S parameters??
2. Can someone help us with information/ materials that we can use to help us understand and learn this subject.
3. Can someone describe the experimental procedure needed and give tips to calculate permittivity and permeability?

Ibrahim Mustafa You can study on 'Material Measurement Sollutions' offered by tier 1 electronic measurement & instrumentation companies. Most have it offered as VNAs + test-jigs + dedicated software. Check the specifications, user guide & other support literature from them.
Can you please share a book or a link for a document that you recommend?

There are hundreds of very good papers in this field (e.g. via IEEE explore) ; and you have a large choice of your test setup depending on the frequency range, precision requirements type of sample etc etc. Maybe you should first say what kind of materials you are looking at, why there is a need for measurements and which precision and frequency range you are interested in.
