Dear All,
We are working on a project to investigate IMCs precipitation in AL-Zn alloys. They are primarily alpha-AlSiFe IMCs present in the temperature ranging from 575 - 610 deg C.
I need your thoughts to avoid precipitation of these IMCs. Obvious solution is rapid quenching. What are the possible Rapid Quenching techniques you have used in your work so far! Let's share with us

We use Rapid Quenching in Iced water, we use silica tubes.

I tried silica tube via suction and quenched in water and also with copper tubes of varying thickness. Still characterising samples, i hope to draw some conclusion out of this practice.

Fe containong constituents precipitate during solidification. There is not much you can do via heat treatment to get rid of them.

Thank for your comment. That is true we can't entirely remove them. I am looking to suppress their precipitation during cooling process.
I am looking for some novel technique so that I can rapidly quench at various temperatures.

The statement 'Fe containing constituents precipitate during solidification' made by Murat Tiryakioglu is highly probably true. Perhaps the Rapid Solidification Technology, i.e. quenching from temperatures above the (range of) melting temperatures at very high cooling rates provides possibilities to avoid precipitation of intermetallic compounds during solidification and subsequent cooling.
