Quantization is a kind of perturbation of a finite well-defined size, that invades the deterministic classical Hamiltonian world. Dirac showed this convincingly.
As an explanation, so far only an endophysical solution is available - which fact overtaxes most specialists.
GR is not quantizable because it involves a variable (only locally invariant) speed of light c. However, a global-c transform is possible, as the discovery of c-global independently by Richard J. Cook ( [email protected] ) and my group – only in the equivalence principle and the Schwarzschild metric so far – implies.
Everyone is waiting for the re-scaled version of GR itself. The theory you mention may or may not be a helpful stepping stone.

GRAVITY IS QUANTIZED NOW BY MY NEW TRANSFORMATION WHICH IS A GLOBAL C TRANSFORM WHICH IS VACUUM ENERGY DEPENDENT.
Quantization of GR is not desirable in that it can never be rigorously complete and correct. QFT derived from fundamentals is better than quantization of GR, but QFT is not complete, and there is disagreement about vacuum energy and cosmological constant.
In my Partition Theory viXra:1512.0277, I show that the disagreement can be removed by partition of vacuum energy into positive and negative curving components representing competition of gravity potential and EM radiation. Then QFT can be completed to include gravity as an emergent property of space under stress. Vacuum energy can be large for small net curvature.
Acceleration of galaxies is explained by a slight excess of EM flux over gravity potential in regions of deep space.
GR is a second order approximation not a final theory which was noted by Albert Einstein in his popular book. He expected other people to improve on it. That's what all the theories of everything are trying to do. Einstein's work truncated the higher order terms because they were not resolvable in the mathematics he was using. His work was rather far advanced for the time in 1920.
In my recent work with modified PV theory I have predicted critical high speeds and high energy levels where space and time become degenerate and GR breaks down, no longer describing the action. For this reason I have considered less popular theories such as TGD by Matti Pitkänen which become necessary for continuum calculations at high speed, although I believe QFT will eventually surpass TGD with discrete calculations for micro scale once the energy partition is added to QFT.
