Ptychochromoides (Cichlid) is one of the rarest and the most threatened fish species in the world. There are three species critically endangered in Madagascar. We plan to reproduce this species in order to reintroduce them in the wild. We have tried many techniques but we have not achieved our goal until now. Moreover, we can't lead deeper research as we don't have means. We have heard that some aquarists have specimens. Is there anyone who can advise us? Could you please share your knowledge?

The decline of the native fauna population is correlated with two primary factors such as : the presence of exotic species, which are at the present common, and habitat degradation resulting from extensive forest clearance.

I had mail discussion with Jörg Albering. He has never kept P. itasy but he has worked with other Malagasy cichlids. He gave me some helpful advice and I am now trying to apply them. I think I will have interesting results, sooner. Thanks a lot for your advices!
