I believe that you may need a tool that would allow to simultaneously monitor the brain activity of multiple participants and calculate various synchronization metrics in real-time.
If you agree, you can look the research software that we develop, www.okazolab.com. Thew software allows online acquisition from several EEG amplifiers in parallel. Online EEG data can be then visualized and processed at sub-millisecond rate, with a possibility to add your own processing scripts. In addition, our software can control the participant communications, e.g. perform speech recognition, voice recording and generate accurate synchronization cues.
As an example, you can easily calculate a real-time correlation of the gamma-peak frequencies across several participants (like one in van Pelt's paper) and other similar metrics. This may help you in finding which metrics produces the best evidence.
