29 September 2020 6 4K Report

Dear all,

As I am no engineer and seldom had anything to do with such technical questions, I now stand before a problem: I need to calculate the power required to cool down or at least hold a designated volume (0.5 L) at a desired temperature (like 15°C) in an insulated container. The material inside is mostly air, with biological samples in water-based solutions in glass vials. It shall be held for a few days, let's say 5-7 days.

Which formulas and further data do I need to calculate everything I need to know? Does anyone have any recommendation on where I can read up on such technical questions and would be able to come to the right conclusions/results myself? From some looking into it, I mostly found calculations for far bigger volumes on an industry scale, with no sufficient explanations.

Sincerely,

Nils
