Most of crop plants show nutrient deficiency symptoms especially of micronutrients, although their status is good/optimum in soils. Imbalanced fertilization or heavy application of primary nutrient element is one cause of micronutrient deficiencies in plants. But, in present context poor quality water is also inducing multi-nutrient deficiencies although nutrient status of soils is good. Kindly provide your views on this aspect.
The chemical composition of water and water family have great effect on nutrient balance and availability for plants , incase of bad water quality the fertiliztion is not recommended since causes increase in osmotic potential of soil solution then decrease in plant growth.on the other in case of bad water quality the foliar application of fertilizers is the suitable method .
Yes Sir, actually high salts level interfere with nutrient uptake and even the nutrient present in optimum amount in Soil are not taken up by the plants and crop generally shows nutrient deficiencies.

Poor water quality is also a big problem since under saline condition broadcust fertilization is not recommended due to high osmotic potential of poor water quality and using chemical fertilizers with irrgation wath bad water quality may causing damage or plant.On the other hand the risk of irrigation water also depends on water family if two waters having the same electrical conductivity but the doimnate ions in the first one are Ca , SO4 or HCO3, while the dominate ions in the second one were Na ,Cl or othe anions in this casr the risk of the first one is less than the second water due to forming more ion pairs in the first water which decrease its risk on soil and plants. under saline condition the foliar fertilization is suitable.
