Let's assume i have to write 3000 words for a literature review.How many headings should I be using and if I need to write materials and methods?
Dear Sana, I will assume you are talking about narrative review, not systematic review.
Exact headings and sub headings will be written in the "instructions for authors" file which every journal they have on their home page. Am telling you this since every journal has it's own guidelines which are MANDATORY to follow. Same goes for the abstract, sometimes we waste our time writing an unstructured abstract for a narrative review article, and then the article is not forwarded to the reviewers because they journal asks for structured abstract instead. I am unaware of any specific reporting guidelines for narrative reviews, like , for example, PRISMA for systematic reviews.
