I was operated by laparoscopic technique from two large indirect inguinal hernias located on the left side of my groin and one smaller on the right side of my groin. I don't have any other complication from the surgery except that after two days large bulges on the left and the right sides returned back almost to the same size as before the surgery. I panicked today when I started to experience pain on the left side of my groin. I do have appointment with the surgeon on January 19 th 2017. Please advice what I do in case the pain becomes more frequent.
Wait for Medical evaluation, because we need to know if the pain is neuropatic or somatic. While, you could take pain killers as celebrex and gabapentin until your evaluation.
I do agree with Dr Diaz-Rosales! there are multiple reasons why you are having these 2 bulges, it could be anything from just simple swelling that is common after this type of surgery and usually fades away, and it can be that the hernia is back, although it is uncommon for both of them to come back 2 days after operation! Do you have severe cough? Did you lift heavy objects or did any heavy exercise? are these 2 bulges going away when you lie down on your back? I would just advice you until you see the surgeon to follow what my colleague Dr Diaz-Rosales said, and if you have severe pain and the 2 bulges are increasing with redness of the skin or if there is fever or sever constipation, that you seek emergency help..I wish you a speedy recovery
If all else fails in the meanwhile you can maybe se your Family Practitioner (if you have one), or go to the ED of the local hospital.
sir,your bulges are very likely due to seroma which occurs very commonly after lap repair of large hernia.Most of the pts get worried.Get an U/S scan done.
Agree with Dr. Prasanna reddy. possibly seroma is the cause of the swelling. If proved to be seroma, we recommend Ice pack applications to the seroma. If there is an opening in the skin would, may be drain the seroma with slight pressure with a rolled sterile gause.
The pain may be due to entrapment or edema of a nerve. We recommend Neurobion tablets (Vitamin B1, B6 & B12 combination ) for 3 weeks.
