I am currently doing a project on a process for manufacturing a pre-adhesive epoxy-acrylate blend. One of the parts of this projects consists on the dimensioning and detailed instrumentation of the UV reactor.
Here is where my problem begins, on every patent regarding processes like this, one reactor scheme is never mentioned. My polymerization is bulk polymerization with about 20% monomer conversion (viscosity 2000 cps) and the guiding professor suggested I looked into something like a batch reactor with a side-arm with the UV lamps for recirculation of the mixture but I haven't found anything similar to this yet, and I have been searching for about a month now.
Can anyone point me to a scheme of a UV photo prepolymerization reactor ?

Dear João Ludgero Pereira, I suggest to use a glassware similar to the shown in the photos. Note that the batch is a double walled with vacuum in between. This is to isolate the reaction medium from thermal exchange to the outside. My Regards

I've found your answer helpful. However, I should have mentioned this somewhere, the reactor I am looking for is for industrial production and not laboratorial. I am not sure if I am envisioning what you are trying to describe. To me a sidearm can be a pipe coming out of the side of a reactor. If this is the case, a word of caution. There is usually minimal flow (dead space) in a protruding pipe (arm?). I have seen a high Mz buildup using organic peroxides to cure acrylics. A UV light source, flush to the wall or shining into the tank from above, is a good option, with proper shielding of course.
