There is very nice simulator D-ITG that can be useful in the network flows simulation. Varying of input parameters you can specify any traffic characteristics. After simulation D-ITG provides utilities for results analysis (achieved throughput, delay, delay variation, jitter, packet loss, etc). If you need more information I can attach short guideline how to use this simulator.
