Online teaching is the adopted teaching modality up till now during the COVID 19 pandemic in most of the countries. Working hours have dramatically changed as a result of that, and that applies to schools and Universities. From your experience, did you find that disturbing to normal life?

Teaching using zoom or Google or any other virtual meeting mode is NOT ONLINE EDUCATION . It is oy a part of it.there is a need to adress all kinds of learners . Videos, pdfs, images research papers pertaining to the topics covered must also be shared through a LMS . Weekly assessments need to be conducted.duscussion forums need to be initiated by the faculty for creating an online community which will encourage seamless glow of info and ideas amongst learners
Thus will create an online learning environment.
This is an unnatural scenario. The progress of the disease disrupted the overall system. Yes, I find it is disturbing and impacting our personal life.

It is disturbing our normal life but we can handle it; means it is a matter of adjustment but frankly, many positive effects are perceived; at least families are regrouped in the same space for longe hours a day. after finishing our duties, we find ourselves gathered in the same roof in a matter of seconds.

Dear Sanaa N Al- Haj Ali , education activities have certainly been changed, as our life has been changed, and it couldn't be different as said Shirshendu Roy . Despite the difficulties, I fully agree with Thouraya Snoussi that the current experience has allowed us to leave the comfort zone and perceive positive aspects that we did not know, and being open to these changes helps us to evolve and grow. I think Dr Ritu Uppal made an important and necessary comment, since synchronous sessions cannot be synonymous with online teaching, they are one more feature that makes up the virtual learning environment, they are another resource among others. That is why we need to know the modalities before judging them. We can take advantage of the situation and search for the best practices of each modality in hybrid approaches to offer better educational experiences for our students and for us as teachers.

Online education is certainly not only ZOOM or Skype session, its just a part. One needs to consider recommended and reference books, and other materials. The COVID19 has changed the natural way of many things, however, we are going towards the normal.
In order to be more responsive to my students, I have had to be available much more often than if I were teaching in a face 2 face environment. It has also been extremely time-consuming as we had to transition so quickly to a new platform that required an intense amount of work that required ongoing training and the creation of video lectures, google docs, online syllabi, etc. Hence, being prepared to teach and being "on" much of the time has definitely disrupted my everyday routines and particularly, the level of scholarly work that I am able to produce. However, since there isn't much else to do during this time of quarantine, I am not yet feeling the stress as much as if I had all my other obligations still left to fulfill. Additionally, I showed myself that I could pivot quickly when needed, although it wasn't pretty, I have managed to acquire new skills and feel much more resilient as a result.

Online teaching was a necessity imposed by the circumstances of the lockdown due to Covid-19 Pandemic. It has its pros and cons. However, online teaching has largely filled the defect created by the suspension of traditional education due to the lockdown caused by Covid-19 Pandemic.

Sanaa N Al- Haj Ali that is an excellent question and we might quibble about normality but regardless of the definition, I think we can agree it has been disrupted. If you are looking for a variety of perspectives, The Journal of Literacy and Technology has just published a rapid response journal on this very subject. I will be the first to admit that some of the findings are not the perfect answer that everyone is looking for. However, they do speak to the point that whether we like it or not, the educational world (technology-heavy or light) has fundamentally been disrupted. This scholarship within the journal was created by people in the pandemic, for people in the pandemic. If you want a more expansive look at the issues, it might be helpful as an expose on first findings in suddenly online research. Yes there is no personal life at all. In India we are expected to work from 9-9.
Lot on pressure on ICT departments too.
Teachers are struggling with online assessments etc.
Use of OERs can solve many problems but an attitudinal change is the need of the hour.

Buenas tardes, según mi experiencia he percibido perturbación en la vida normal en los estudiantes de escuelas y universidades en mi medio, por el cambio drástico en la modalidad de enseñanza de presencial a virtual, puesto que el cambio fue abrupto y muchos docentes y estudiantes no se encontraban totalmente preparados para ello.
La incursión a la modalidad virtual se inició con el traspaso de las clases presenciales a plataformas de videoconferencias, para impartir clases sincrónicas, en muchos casos sin la incorporación de estrategias para la enseñanza y aprendizaje que promuevan la autorregulación y autogestión en los estudiantes. Posterior al impacto inicial, se incorporó el uso de las plataformas con fines educativos como Moodle, Google Classroom entre otros, para incorporar las actividades asincrónicas entornos virtuales de aprendizaje, estrategias didácticas apoyadas por las TIC´s , todo ello a la par de una intensa capacitación en herramientas digitales y estrategias para enseñanza y aprendizaje por parte de docentes y estudiantes.
En este sentido, si se percibió perturbación en la vida normal no solo de estudiantes sino de docentes, aunque en el caso de los primeros, al constituirse la mayoría en nativos digitales (pertenecientes a la Generación Z y otros a la Generación T) demuestran mayor facilidad para adaptarse al uso de plataformas y herramientas digitales con fines educativos, situación que no sucedió en la misma proporción ni intensidad con muchos docentes, quienes pertenecen a otras generaciones y para quienes el uso de las tecnologías era relativamente nuevo, salvando excepciones.

Especially in Ghana most teachers and learners were not trained via such medium of instruction and therefore it wasn't seen as normal at all especially for learners at the basic school level.

Since online teaching started, I have bigger workload and long hours. Even now, it it 2115 hours, but I am using my laptop to send resource materials to my students. I spent the whole day in the office today searching for suitable videos and test items for the courses. Home has really become an extension for the office

I think in covid pandemic normal life is disturbed and so online teaching is only option
