I am writing my thesis and facing troubles in interpreting the Oaxaca decomposition. The goal is to see what is the gap between the two years in the test results where the predictors are students' characteristics and parents' characteristics. Still, I found the difference between the explained and the unexplained too high and I don't know how to interpret it. Would it be possible to help?
