Im doing solid phase extraction prior to HPLC analysis on phenolic acids and flavonoids. As I need to concentrate my sample before storage, I would like to get more information on what would be a better choice between using nitrogen which can help prevent the oxidation of phenolics or the rotary evaporator? By the way my sample volume is only 10 ml.
I would appreciate more information on the differences between these two methods.

What solvent is being used to dissolve the samples? How many samples? As the rotary evaporator is under vacuum, there is minimal oxygen, and little to no heat required for most organic solvents, and the solvent is removed very quickly. If the samples are in water, a nitrogen stream is more gentle. If you have a lot of samples, nitrogen allows much higher through-put.
