Due to not being able to access University tools etc. I am stuck using recovery software such as recuva etc. I guess the question I'm trying to ask is how would I go about analysing results from these types of applications. Any pointers/help would be of great use.

Hi Rani. I have not seen this question before. Recuva is of little use, as are many other three-click automated programs. Eg DMDE is much better, but you already know that :). To analyze the results, it is worth using hex-Edit. There are already enough publications analyzing the statistics of the recovered data, and for understanding the subject it is more important to establish what and why can be recovered and what and why cannot be recovered.
