Most of us have read a book or two that we either found interesting or hard to forget that we would recommend to others. Name any two (2) such books and a little synopsis, one (1) paragraph at most, of what the book is about.

Hi,
My preference goes to "Dune" by Frank Herbert (the whole Sci-Fi series) and Michael Crichton's works (irrespective of which one - they are all treating well researched contemporary issues - e.g. "The Andromeda strain", "Micro", "Next", "Coma", "Congo", "Sphere", "Jurassic Park", "Westworld").
Something engaging to read beyond the tragic or cliffhanger world classics.

"The Man Died" by Wole Soyinka and "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe
The Prophet by Khalil Gubran and Amber rabit ...both very different but interesting and made me think a lot!

Things fall Apart is a classic. I did know the background behind the book and how eventually it got printed in London when China Achebe's boss intervened.

As I understand it, the key thrust of the 2nd book is "what can be accomplished with faith and virtuous cycle of faith." Is this correct?

Prof Barbara Sawicka will indulge us when the time is right. she never disappoints.
These pertain to fiction. 1. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo outlines the struggle, unfairness, forgiveness and redemption set around the time of the French Revolution.
2. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, a novel set in Brooklyn, NY, USA about an immigrant Irish family struggling through difficult times and ultimately succeeding in life.

I will look at both books. At first glance, it appears as though the common theme in both books is struggle and ultimate triumph. Is that correct?
Kheepe Moremi Yes, sir, although for Les Miserables the ending may be less of a triumph compared to feeling of relief, closure and redemption

I will "google" The Master and Margarita.
"Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe. The book highlights the rich traditions and struggles in a typical Igbo household and village in eastern Nigeria before and after the invasion by Europeans. "The Fourth Dimension " by David Yonggi Cho a spiritually exhilarating piece.
