To answer this question, the most important work is to make clear is the EPW a TE wave? TM wave? or TEM wave ?

Of course, Meiqin Liu, the are a number of waves that could propagate in plasma. However, in the question was said that this wave accelerate electrons, and nothing was said about magnetic field, that's why I assumed that the Langmuir waves are meant by EPW. (And, by the way, that acceleration is in the direction of wave propagation)
