DDOS is every where. It is not about wired or wireless. It is about applications and services. It is denial of service. So find a service, exploit it and you have denial of service. Spoofing is a passive measurement technique it is not a denial of service. Crashing web-sites with huge amount of requests is a DoS. Tracking VoIP phone call and terminate it is DoS. preventing some one form downloading files in bittorrent is DoS. all of these services are available in wired and wireless.
DDOS attack is pertinent to all kinds of networks, be it peer-to-peer, adhoc, wired. Starting from internet to vehicular adhoc networks, or cyber physical systems that integrate real-life physical infrastructures into cyber frameworks, there is a wide range of research going on security attacks like DDOS.
DDOS attackers mainly used the weakness of the tcp protocol .i.e the backlog queue is a finate capacity. if there is any technique to identify the attacker before stagnation of system resorces, so there is a need to identify a better technique to identify the attacker and attacker way of attacking. this technique does not consume syst6em resources.
I think you should go for the wireless and also the techniques used for security.

Wireless networks are being used a lot nowadays and more and more new means are being developed to attack it and even if there are not many attack incidents, due to rise of use in various power-grid and mobile applications, etc, it is expected to invite more attackers. And as someone mentioned above, it is about disrupting a service, wireless or wired. In wireless, DDoS works more like a Jamming attack and is quite easier to launch. You might wanna look into wireless attacks in more detail and evaluate its similarity with other attacks which are simpler to launch.

Wireless networks are more vulnerable to DDoS attacks concentrate on this.
It depends on which side are you looking, server side or client side. DOS attack can be launched on each side. It can prevent user to send a request for a service on the user side (in that case you need to consider wireless networks because of the increasing number of devices that uses wireless technologies for network access). Considering user side (example target is access point) DoS would have an impact only on those users that are connected to that access point. But if we observe DoS that are oriented on the server side, all users that are trying to access specific service on the server are affected, and that can be millions of them.
