Motor Torque Calculation for stage?

I have a micropositioning stage that carries about 2kg of load and I need to move in the z-axis direction. I'm currently using a lead screw to drive it upwards but I plan on automating this system by controlling the screw with a motor. The speed of the motor is not important to me, but the resolution is (I'd ideally like a step size of 0.5 degrees).

What formulas could I use to calculate the required torque of the motor in oz-in / Nm?
