Dear Sir/Madam, I want to make sure if the dense points - like protrusions on the bark of Erman' birch saplings are lenticels (see pictures attached)? Are those high-density points assocaited with any physiological function of the species?
ps: Erman' birch widely distribut in the Northeast Asia, it act as a treeline species on Changbai Mountain in China
Yes, I think these dots are lenticells which are - to my knowledge - typical for Betula species.

Dear Xiaoyu,indeed you might be right that some of the dots are resin glands. Probably only a histological examination can reveal the identity.
