Does anyone have relevant literatures or knowledge the posible morphological and anatomical differences between hybrid plants / cultivars and their parents?
Dear Felix, Morpho-anatomic variations between parents and their hybrids are proven by transgression. In many cases, in hybrids there is heterosis in these signs.
Generally, there are very few to no anatomical differences within species. Often, these are regarded as morpho-anatomical markers.
I have not encountered anything regarding hybrids but there are anatomical differences in trichomes between species of Solanum cernum (see journal below).
Given this, crosses between plants can have anatomical variations WITHIN species; thus, hybrids can have morpho-anatomic variations with respect to their parents.
