Mixed Methods Design Viability?

Hi everyone,

I am undertaking an explanatory sequential design to investigate the role childhood trauma in the development of perinatal OCD. Using 2 measures to collect data and to inform the development of semi structured interviews to explore participants experiences in more depth.

Does this seem like a viable approach to this type of study? I'm new to mixed methods research and realise I have a lot to learn so any advice/support would be great.

Yes, that definitely sounds like an explanatory sequential design. The textbook by Creswell and Plano-Clark is the best known source on mixed methods, and they include a full chapter on this design.
