18 months ago, I purchased Apex440 a Class-A FET cardioids condenser microphone with USB output directly connecting to a computer from frontendstudio for voice analysis study. It appeared to me that most of the publication I went through on voice analysis uses Shure microphones but it is expensive. Apex440 at USD100 appeared reasonable.

Fast forward, I am now experiencing unreasonable voltage spikes in my recordings . I made cable adjustments but the problem persist. I suppose that the microphone has corrupt mostly due to my mishandling. I have used it on field work and has been rather rough on it. I would like to replace my microphone and I am considering of getting the same model. It has got good frequency response range of 20-20000Hz. and reasonable value for price.

I wonder what is the community opinion of this microphone model as a tool in voice research.
