Could you provide me with any references or data concerning the solubility of MnCl2, MnSO4, MnCO3 in any of the common organic solvents (acetone, ethanol, pyridine, etc.)?
Actually, to dissolve mineral salt you need solvant with the proprieties as near as possible of the water, it would mean highly polar and protic. So by decreasing order of interest : methylformamid > formamid > ethyleneglycol > diethyleneglycol > methanol > ethanol
David, thank you for this list of potential solvents which I could try with. Wikipedia says that Mn salts are soluble in ethanol and pyridine, so they are probably soluble in the solvents from your list. But I have trouble to find the exact data about solubility-is it 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3 mol/l?
A number of data, for example the solubility of manganese acetate in methanol, can be found on the website https://en.crystalls.info/Category:Solubility_data
I have managed to dissolve 2.4 g of manganese (II) acetate tetrahydrate in 100 ml of ethanol by prolonged stirring with a mechanical mixer (1 hour) at room temperature of ~ 20 ° C.
