I am looking for a metal/alloy for an application that involves a 1000 Celsius environment exposed to atmospheric air.
The material properties of interest are -
Low thermal expansion
Low electrical resistivity - I expect an oxide layer to form, so the oxide layer would need to develop uniformly and have low electrical resistivity.
Ease of machinability - This is the least important property, as it is more of a factor in reducing costs.
I'm aware of the existence of invar and inconel alloys, however I'm not a materials expert and I haven't found much data on their properties in temperatures of 1000C.

I would recommend looking into tantalum. It's thermal expansion is lower than most metals (https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-expansion-metals-d_859.html) and it is not very hard. I am not sure what the electrical properties of the Ta2O5 are like, but there will not be much of it because tantalum forms a very thin passivation layer that may lead to an overall lower resistance simply because there is less oxide than would be present on other metals. Something like Hastelloy would be similar, but I believe is harder to machine and has a higher coefficent of thermal expansion.
