How would one set up an academic website (for example) to update publication lists for individual authors automatically as new articles appear on PubMed (or another public database)? I realize that there are likely many ways to do this, and I would appreciate links to directions or examples.
One way to do this would be to embed and rss feed for the name in your website. When you search on pubmed, there will bee a button that says RSS under the search bar. You can click on that and it will create a link for an xml. (Example for your name: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/erss.cgi?rss_guid=1rIWwFURZ86_SAwsfAIRq3o0bIoM7I0panAXj4N2WmEkQTNoTW)
After this, you can use something such as Feedwind (http://feed.mikle.com/) or another tool to embed the RSS feed into your site.

RSS feeds is usually a good way to go, I have previously used that in combination with yahoo tubes (enable merging and further processing of RSS feeds) for creating similar listings.
