Which value of ru should be considered at the end of the analysis?? if ru isbigger than 1 does it mean liquefaction occcured? and is it possible to get values more than 1?
When adding piles under a foundation to see if it will prevent liquefaction...what should be the materials of the piles?
When the value of ru becomes 1, this means that the pore water pressure is equal to the the total stress. If the soil is sand, then liquefaction can occur. Further loading may lead to values of ru greater than 1.
The pile material can be assumed linear elastic with parameter the modulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio.

We have post liquefaction behavior when ru is greater than 1.
When ru =1 it means that effective stress of soil is zero. That means that the sandy soil has no shear strength. When further dynamic loading is applied the ru value may increase.
If we use pile material as elasto-plastic, we will get more accurate results.
