LaTex is good when you will be writing your research paper. There will not be problem to insert the formula and alignment of the article will be good.
LaTeX is better than Word for displaying multilevel mathematical equations. The online tool Overleaf is providing more and more functions that are similar to those available in Word, including spell check. Overleaf has a free version and a paid version that offers more. If I must use LaTeX, it is easier in Overleaf.
That said, if the equation capabilities in Word are sufficient for the purpose, the rest of the ease and control available in Word makes it more attractive to me.
