I used Labvew to control the devices for transport, and everything goes well, except for the emergence of multiple selection of the same address. For example, I use connect a lock-in amplifier with address 12. And after running of program, there will be 12(1), 12(2), 12(3)...
Is there any suggestion to solve this problem?

Do you use NI MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer)? How do those duplicate GPIB addresses look in MAX?

The GPIB addresses disappear in NI VISA. I did not find the address list in NI MAX. The duplicate selections only appear in the labview program, and corresponding to specific devices, that is, the lock-in amplifier (I use LI5650/5640 from NF company). Such problems do not appear for other devices like the current source, dc voltmeter, etc.
In labview program, the duplicate addresses appear in sequence like: GPIB0::12::INSTR (1-35)
Xinyu Shu Unfortunately, in my experience, as far as the GPIB address is not appeared correctly in NI MAX, modifing your Labview program would not solve the problem. Is there an updated version of the driver or firmware distributed by the device manufacturer? I would suggest contacting the hardware manufacturer's support technician.
The actual firmware version of NF Li56xx should be V1.80. If you get multiple GPIB, this might be because you open a GPIB port at each time. So I recommend to close the VISA when you exit your Labview prog.
if you are using GPIB-USB (I guess from National Instrument), then on the lockin panel, you must select the Utility/Interface/GPIB.
Once this is done, you open NI MAX. You should see GPIB-USB-0 . Then in NI MAX on top, you have to select "scan for instrument". Your lock in should appear with its serial number and firmware version. It should be v1.80 (from 2022). If not, then go to NF web site, download the program to update the firmware, but you must connect your instrument with a USB cable rather than GPIB. I also encourage you to use USB rather than GPIB, and GPIB-USB connector is expensive and not really needed since you have USB on the NF 56xx on the rear panel.
