I am using a questionnaire in my study. The instrument has to be translated for use in my country and there won't be any major changes. In this case, shall I go with the adopting process or the adapting process which is similar to developing?
"Adopt" means to make use of. "Adapt" means to change to fit your needs. It would even be appropriate to say "we adopted this instrument, and adapted it by translating it into" another language.
I might even avoid these terms and say something like "we employed [instrument name] and translated it into [language] while retaining the meaning of each question."
It is an adapting instrument as it adapts a source text to the recepients speaking other language and belonging to other culture
Svitlana Baranova Thanks a lot..! In this case do I have to go for exploratory factor analysis or only confirmatory factor analysis? Also, are there any other new trends which I have to include in the process of adapting?
