It wouldn't have occurred to me to pay someone to edit my thesis, and I'm surprised there are agencies out there doing this. I can understand if a foreign national is concerned about the fluency of their writing in another language, but it had not occurred to me before that some people's submissions are improved upon before they're submitted. What do other folk think?

Karen, graduate students should not have to pay for having their thesis edited, as their thesis advisors are already being paid to work with their students to enable them to produce a professionally presented work. This situation is the symptom of a decadent situation in some dark corners of the world of academics.
