I believe he is like what is happening on the worker of money through his work, the scientist gets ideas rather than money as a result of his thinking.Because the worker is working with his hands and the scientisthis through his brain.

I feel thinking has various levels of intensity and becomes  closer to the wavelength of interest either by choice, or to a mind already immersed in the particular activity of interest or it may come out of the blue.

For thinking to be of high quality one must have an intellect sufficiently developed over the years and a natural urge to dwell on the topic of interest.

There is a difference between what is written and what a man thinks, as the written gets slowly unfolded as expression with the thinking process working in real time mostly unconsciously to the person who is writing. This is what thrills the thinker and goes  to higher levels. Needless to say the thought force is the seed force for all the thinking processes.

Creativity in thinking is like a chain process linked to each process of thinking for a motivated person and the society at large is a major motivator in this regard, No society means no inventions as there will be none to inspire the thinker.

Thinking is not absolutely spontaneous. It is a response to some sort of stimuli that is anyhow/somehow of interest to the thinker. Though the stimulus may not be apparently visible at the time but it must be working in the background. For example, I am writing these words in response to your query which interests me.

Then, thinking is also not equivalent to the revelation that comes from somewhere else.
