Hi, I am working on bridge-scour phenomena under different hydraulic conditions. The main goal is to propose a practical way for estimating the temporal-evolution of local-scour depth under complex scenarios. Is there anyone interested in share pier-scour data? (steady, quasi-steady, unsteady or natural data will be much appreciated).
You might be interested in this report as an example or reference. I am not sure about accessing of scour data with USGS, a possibility perhaps. Dave Rosgen published on his J hooks and cross vanes used to reduce near bank stress and provide grade control and in one of the training sessions we discussed the use of these structures to limit scour due to the narrowing of the channel cross section at bridges, and to limit excessive aggradation associated with others. There are numerous works for the development of a scour hole around a cylinder under steady flows, e.g Roulund et al(2005). As for unsteady flows, William's field data are really valuable.
