Longitudinal pressure waves propagate during traveling through a wave tube as shown in the image below. According to the hooks law, particles only  "vibrate" like a string because of compression and rarefaction of the waves introduced along the longitudinal axis of the tube. So if we want waves, push and move particles unidirectional toward or from the one end of the tube, what measures should be undertaken? such as wave spectrum components, frequency, etc.
