I am wondering to know how we can make a relationship between control and natural condition in plants?
for instance, what is the point to have the greenhouse experiment even we know that the performance of the plants can be change under different environment in natural condition?
How we can make a correlation between the performance of the plants in the growth room (control) condition and multi-environment (natural) condition?
You can do a t test, a type of inferential statistics. It is used to determine whether there is a significant difference between the means of two groups. You could measure biomass of replicates grown naturally and in greenhouse

My question is not about how to do that. My question is about the relationship between them. Consider you have some measurements at the control condition,get some responses from different traits but this is a cell, leaf,and plant base. However, in the field you are struggle with canopy base in multi environments. How can you validate your data from plant to canopy? Statistic just a kind of tools for analyzing but rationally you should make a decision for cultivating genotypes in various environments based on the control measurements!is it possible? T-test is about testing whether there is a different between two traits or not or in this case there is difference between control and natural. However, my question is more fundamental and it us about the necessity of doing research on greenhouse.

let's see in a different way. assume that one shoot in a plant has the $100 value. one plant produce 2 shoots in the control condition but 1 shoot in the field condition. Although based on the T-test and other statistical analysis, there is no significant difference between the control and natural condition, but there are a significantly different in the nature value of the plant.
Therefore, we cannot validate the data that we achieved in the greenhouse for the field condition even the statistic allow us! in this situation, what is the point of doing the research on the control condition?
