I want to use ionic surfactant (Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulphonate) for MWCNT dispersion. Any chance of using a solvent for Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulphonate and MWCNT that isn't water?
@ David jensen....thanks,,,, not yet, but was thinking to use DMF ( Dimethylformamide)....Actually, before using it just need to confirm because as much as i try to finf , mostly water is sugggested but i am not able to use water due to rupture of mechanical properties of my composite material.
@ Andreas Stefopoulos, Jeffrey Gilman , Abdulsamie Alta'ee, Alexander Tolstov,
Well, I already have results for good dispersion of mwcnt into dmf. But my question is that " is it possible to mix ionic surfactant (Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulphonate) into DMF or either in any solvent as Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulphonate is mentioned for water only.
one important point not considered yet, does it make any sense to use surfactant in polar organic media. Use in water as dispersant is based on surface active properties, which will largely be lost. The surfactant will not improve interaction of DMF or NMP with the carbon nanotubes.
@ Titus Sobisch ....you are absolutely right...but the the matrix material which i am using is thermoseting and if i use water for surfactant it reduce mechanilly properties and oraginality of matrix is almost lost, i mean not in a good state .so the idea is y not try some organic solvent......may be it can serve the purpose
