The primary determinants of cyclical climate change in the history of planet Earth are the variations in the Earth’s rotation and in the orbit around the Sun. The variations are as follows (apologies for the cryptic nature of the text)::

1. Eccentricity (of orbit around the sun).

a. Description. Earth’s approx. 365 day orbit around the Sun is not perfectly circular but is slightly elliptical. Earth is not a constant distance from the Sun.

b. Effect. 400,000 year cycle. Insolation (solar radiation reaching earth) changes as distance from Sun changes.

2. Inclination (of earth’s orbit around the sun)

a. Description. The planets orbit the sun in one flat plane (almost) with the plane of Jupiter’s orbit being the (close approx.) reference plane. Changes in inclination brings earth on a different path where there is interplanetary material, meteoroids and dust, which are accreted into earth. Well-dated climate proxy records show the 100,000-year cycle only over the last million years. Prior to this transition, the 100-kyr period is either absent or very weak.

b. Effect. 100,000 year cycle. The sudden onset of the 100-kyr peak about 1 million years ago can also be dealt with by the accretion hypothesis. We are required, however, to assume that the dustiness of the solar system underwent a discontinuous change at about a million years. Calculated variation of eccentricity does not show any discontinuity (in the orbit of the earth around the sun) a million years ago.

3. Obliquity (of earth’s rotation on its axis)

a. Description. The Tilt of the earth’s rotation on its axis results in the seasons. The maximum tilt varies between 22.1 and 24.5 degrees over a 41,000 Year cycle.

b. Effect. 41,000 year cycle.

4. Precession

a. Description. “Spinning Top movement”. Gyroscopic wobble. Zodiac.

a. Effect. 23,000 year cycle. Some say 26,000 years e.g. Mayan Calendar.

I have some climate data for that, but I do not have data on planetary motion so that I can relate this data statistically to climate phenomena.

Yes planetary motions do effect the climate and also has the ability to perturb its interannual variation. It is worth mentioning that the amount of forcing may be very small, but they can affect over a large-scale. E.g. if you consider Mars atmosphere, there are global scale dust storm event occurred over Mars. And the studies suggested a statistically significant correlation between years with global dust storms on Mars and the phasing of the orbital angular momentum of Mars with respect to the Solar System barycenter (L). It is also proposed that the time rate of change of L has a forcing function for atmospheric variability, which depends upon a weak ‘orbit-spin’ coupling between the orbital and rotational angular momenta of extended bodies that produces a small horizontal acceleration within the atmosphere. Referred to as the “coupling term acceleration” (CTA).

This CTA mainly depends upon "angular velocity of planet’s rotation about its spin axis", "position vector identifying the location in the planet's body-fixed coordinate system" and "the coefficient C, which is a measure of the efficiency of the coupling between the orbital and rotational angular momentum reservoirs". The value of C is unknown but is constrained by solar system observations to be quite small (C = 5 × 10^−^13 in case of Mars). And noticeable influence of the CTA on wind patterns and the circulation is seen.

The dust storm over Mars and Rainfall over earth are highly related to the amount of convection (one is dry, other is wet). Therefore, the example I gave can be valid for Earth also.

Dear Nasser, I believe, it is nothing to do with Gravity, because gravity is a quantum mechanics phenomenon, which it means, the motion of our solar system is relay on rotation of galaxy. Is there another significant out there ?

Several countries have witnessed climate events that have not happened in decades .(Waves of high temperatures in Germany and Europe, the floods in Iran, storms in the United States, drought, fires...) So I see that this year (2018-2019) is to be the focus of a study of the astrological influences (Sun, moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus...) What is your opinion?

They knew there was a correlation between the frequency of some climatic conditions and the movement of the planets, but they were unaware of the reason for that. They therefore called the planets the name of the god (the god of rain, the god of thunder...)

But now, we know a lot about the gravity and magnetic fields and radio waves and various radiation. All of these things are present in the planets of our solar system and all affects on the Earth's atmosphere.

The Earth's atmosphere is a collection of light gases and they are affected by the least possible attractiveness, resulting in a stretch of these gases, resulting in a change in atmospheric pressure, resulting in a change in the general air circulation, resulting in a change in weather conditions...

Astrology is based on astronomy because astrological analysis depends on the accuracy of the mathematics performed in astronomical operations. While astronomy utilizes pure mathematical and scientific methods, astrologists have the important job of interpreting the results provided by astronomical researchers.

Further, ancient wise men (astronomers) possessed an enormous amount of scientific knowledge and were highly skilled at interpreting the significance and even the possible impact of astronomical phenomena, patterns, and events, on human beings and the world of nature. In my view, the big difference between ancient wise men and modern man is provided by technology; for example, Galileo Galilei is a "transition figure," whose discovery and making of a telescope with which to observe Earth's Moon bridges the scientific knowledge of the ancient world to the scientific progress and technological advances of the modern world. The Three Wise Men observed a conjunction of planets, including Jupiter and Saturn, and consequently, they rode their camels to Bethlehem, which strongly suggests that their knowledge of astronomy was substantiated by their knowledge of the indispensable link between science and religion and that they subscribed to the idea that the material and spiritual worlds are inextricably bound together, and thus, they were men of remarkable integrity.

Although application of quantum mechanics is intriguing, I wonder about two statements made in the first three pages of the article on gravity (see link above). (1) If a feather and a bowling ball fall at different rates in the space station, exactly how does this nullify Newton's conceptuation of "gravity"?

(2) If fuel burns at a faster rate as the distance from Earth increases, how does this fact support the hypothesis that gravity does not exist in deep space?

Here, and elsewhere in RG, the impression is made that Newton and Einstein are outmoded but no real proof is offered to substantiate these allegations or assumptions from scientists. All scientific inquiry is valid and helpful and even gross errors in thinking do not invalidate the greater project because it all contributes to the impetus of scientific research.

In my view, Newton and Einstein enable "man to understand the ways of God" (Alexander Pope, eighteenth-century English poet's phraseology). It is significant that Newton was a Biblical scholar and that Einstein said that "God does not toss dice in the universe." Scientists tap into attributes ascribed to God, including omniscience and omnipotence. The topic of gravity may be linked to omnipresence and maybe even God's love. Edgar Allan Poe, nineteenth-century American poet, fiction writer, and history of science enthusiast, certainly thought so. Newton's discovery of the laws of motion incorporate gravity as a facet of a much larger picture of appreciable complexity in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and other sciences that were not even invented then. As I see it, Albert Einstein refined Newton's discoveries during the course of his research which resulted in discoveries in electromagnetic radiation and/or the photoelectric effect, involving highly sophisticated mathematics with which he grappled with help from his mathematician friends and colleagues.

Fifty years ago, the USSR sent a dog and a man into space, and the USA sent three men to land on Earth's Moon. It was the low gravitational field that ultimately prevents humans, such as the first woman astronaut who lost significant bone and muscle mass, probably causing premature death, from accomplishing any enduring project to inhabit any other orb than Earth, which epitomizes God's love, but, whose natural resources unfortunately tempt opportunists to engage in utilitarian materialist capitalist imperialist exploitation. If scientists and mathematicians can continue to devoutly pursue research and unlock the mysteries of God's omnipresent love and intelligence, then humankind may begin to fulfill Old Testament prophetic visions of an archetypal "Second Coming" (I quote William Butler Yeats's poem), interpreted as the survival of the human race beyond the bounds of planet Earth as we now know it.

A Nasser Farhat - Your question is a good one because it implies a belief in the coherence or unity or manifold integrity of the Solar System. Your question challenges scientists to consider the interrelationships, if any, between Earth and other planets. Your question is therefore too immense, on one hand, and too fractional, on the other hand for traditional scientific minds to answer in conventional terms.
