hello, i have to estimate plant callus flavonoids and i have not Al (Cl3) that's all by the way can we use an other reagent (to substitute Neu) in flavonoids revelation in TLC thanks

I used a methodology similar to this (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2992136/) using NaNO2 but all precipitates by adding NaOH. What could be happening?
