For my data collection, I am looking for a (free) data source where European companies are classified by their industry codes. At our university we have the Amadeus platform from the Bureau van Dijk, which is quite good, but often does not reveal the industries that Holdings serve for. Does anyone know such a platform?

The Dutch "Standaard Bedrijfs Indeling (SBI 2008)" standard company classification
The first four digits of the SBI are the four digits of NACE and the first two digits of the SBI and NACE are the same as the first two digits of ISIC.

Economic developments made it necessary to adapt the first version of the SBI 2008. In the versions 2012, 2013 and 2014 additional fifth digit subclasses have been added for instance to reflect the growth of retail sale via internet and of the design activities.

The Dutch Chamber of Commerce does have a publically available dataset which contains SIC code (SBI in Dutch) and legal form. It can be downloaded here: https://www.kvk.nl/producten-bestellen/koppeling-handelsregister/kvk-handelsregister-open-data-set/
The major downside is the lack of identifying information (i.e. unique identifiers), so depending on your purposes it may not be very useful.
The British Companies House has an API available where you can also obtain lots of information for free (see: https://developer.companieshouse.gov.uk/api/docs/), but to utilize that efficiently you'd also require a list of unique identifiers.
