Is there a chemical reaction to detect the presence of histidine in blood in samples?

I have been trying to determine using a chemical reaction, the presence of histidine using diazotized sulfanilic acid but it seems there are many interfering factors in blood samples. How can I separate histidine from other protein materials in blood for easy determination?
