Cell division is a noisy process and needs an error-correction technique trough added redundancy in a form of apparent useless pieces of DNA. Telomere measure the level of fitness of an individual and becomes shorter indicating this individual is under some of the following conditions: continuous stress; without physical activity; unable to find 'good' food; and socially isolated. The occurrence of these conditions is an anticipated indication of a possible unfitness of an individual. If this individual dies prematurely, the availability of resources increases and the genetic algorithm for that species improves. In order to shut-down that individual, the shortening of telomeres interferes on the resilience of error-correction in the cell-division process. This effect gives rise to cancer and other diseases to eliminate that individual and accelerate the pace of convergence toward optimum. This million years tested biologic mechanism may be used to develop artificial intelligence with completely new self-organized computer architectures. Experiments with bio-inspired artificial intelligent may lead to the development of new effective treatments for a large spectrum of diseases.
