Is the Draft of New Education Policy of India includes progression from ECE, to school education to Higher education and then continuous life long learning?
Is there space for innovation, research, experimentation in the proposed Draft?
It does not look like that the draft of new education policy of India has been drawn in haste , rather it is giving an impression of having a very deep thought over pedagogy of all ages starting from 3 yrs to 18 yrs.Inclussion of foundation course which will also be activity based will sow the seeds of critical thinking in the child from very begining. Latest research in early childhood care and education(ECCE) has been incorporated to grrom the child in such a way that his best will come out of him, as he won't be studying the things which has been imposed upon him rather he will study the things which he loves to study. Chances of innovation, research and expermentation comes with critical thinking and love for the work subject, so in principle the draft seems to be capable of bringing revolution in the field of education and research, if implemented.
The new draft policy is very lucrative as it promises upliftment of education and including children of age group 3-5 further more gives a relief for down trodden.
Yet i feel that like any other policy it would be just a prized medal if not implemented in heart and soul. Reviewing the past policies and education commissions, it is clear that we have not achieved what we had planned for. The Kothari commisision which goes back to late 60’s had a very progressive outlook and india is still struggling to get near it.
In practice, it s suggested that the already established institues should be upgraded. More of quality education should be imparted. Govt should strive to
Govt should strive to increase the quality of education n teaching in already functioning institutions. Institutes of emminence should be for all fields not just science. World class education and education for all can be achieved if consuderable amount is devoted for education, as suggested previously atleast 6% of gdp. Emphasis should be laid on education that can help attain employment. With that added emphasis needed on research and development.
