Researchers should apply and teach what they have reached to people. What's the purpose of conducting research if what has been reached is not shared with others, with some kind of 'teaching' and 'demonstration'? What is the point of doing research just for the sake of doing research?
Interesting discussion. We faced the same dilemma here. I like doing research more but burdened with excessive teaching hours. How to survive and do better?
There is no best allocation of time for researchers or those in academics. Just develop any methods and styles that work for you as an individuals. Create a personal working plan for your researcher work and teaching job. Stages in the plan may never come to fruition and things may change quickly, then you experience problems. Don’t worry; revise your plan in other to achieve your stated goals, as it is better having a plan that needs to be adjusted over time is than not having any plan at all.
