The purpose of self citation is to show your previous works and how are relevant to the new one. Sometimes it attempts to tempt researchers to read your scientific work.
Is it acceptable or unacceptable to cite your previous works?
self-citation is acceptable within reasonable limits. In Scopus, it is possible to see the author's h-index, excluding self-citation. Therefore, in my opinion, the authors who have a significant difference between the h-index "as is" and "without self-citation" have little fame in the scientific community. Maybe I'm not quite right. ))
I agree with you Maxim, its accepted within limitations. I think if the current research is a quite relative to the prevois works, this might give you a green light to cite as much as you can . Its easier to take from your work as you the only person is familiar with it.
