I have PVDF/PMMA structure and I want to remove PMMA without damaging PVDF. If acetone does not work, can you please recommend me a solvent which is appropriate to disslove only PMMA for the structure(PVDF/PMMA)?
The link below shows solvents which can solve or swell PVDF. These solvents are not appropriate. The best common solvent for PMMA is trichloro ethylene (non-solvent for PVDF), but nearly all chlorinated aliphatic of aromatic hydrocarbons are good solvents for PMMA and non-solvents for PVDF.
Yes, PVDF can be dissolved in ACE but the concentration of PVDF shouldn't exceed 20% because ACE is classified as a poor solvent for PVDF. For more details u can read this paper:
"Zaarour B, Zhang W, Zhu L, et al. Maneuvering surface structures of polyvinylidene fluoride nanofibers by controlling solvent systems and polymer concentration. Text. Res. J 2018. DOI:10.1177/0040517518792748."
Hi and good day. Did you find best solution for your problem? because i have big challenge in my project which my structure PVDF-TrFe dissolved in acetone in lift-off process. I do not know which kind of solution can I use for lift off except of ACE.
Acetone is a poor solvent for PVDF, especially those PVDF with high crystallinity (prepared by suspension polymerization, generally). For low crystallinity or low molecular weight PVDF, Acetone may swell or dissolve part of them.
